A Western Region Class 46 Example Of This Widely Used Type, Pauses At Exeter St. Davids With An Express From The Midlands And The North.


Brush Type 2 Class 31/1 A1A-A1A

First Introduced As Far Back As 1957, And A Common Sight In Most Areas Of The British Rail System, The Class 31s Were A Very Good Example Of A General Purpose Do Anything Type, This Member Of The Class Here Pictured On Holloway Bank, In The Hot Summer Of 1976.

Even On A Sunny Day, Photography Was A Tricky Business In The Shadowy Environs Of Liverpool Street Station. Pictured Here 37 050 Is Seen Reversing Out Of The Station After Bringing In An Earlier Up Express. I Expect That Tail Lamp Would Fetch A Bob Or Two At A Collectors Auction Nowadays.

'Gordon Highlander' Heads For The Foreboding Darkness Of Gasworks Tunnel. By The Looks Of It He Had Recently Been To The Works For A Paint Job, And Gleams In The Warm April Sun.

A Nice Pair Of 47s Pictured Against The Portals Of Gasworks Tunnel.


Class 31s And British Railways Type 4 Class 52 C-Cs

Pictured On The Famous Sea Wall Near Dawlish Warren. The Class 31 Leading This Entourage Was The Only Locomotive Working, As She Hauls Ex D1048 Western Lady & D1041 Western Prince, together with another defunct Class 31, From Newton Abbot To Swindon Works In The Spring Of 1977. The Two Westerns Were To Be Saved From The Scrapman By Enthusiasts, But The Fate Of The Class 31 is Unknown.

In 1976, This Was A Glimpse Into The Future As These High Speed Train Units Were Still On Probation. Here We See An Early Example Working Out Of Kings Cross In The Days Before The Demise Of The Deltics They Were To Replace.
